Couponese Tip of the Day - Get Rid of Expired Coupons

I know it seems like sacrilege... The idea of not using every coupon we've taken the time to clip- the sad reality is that most of us don't use ALL of our coupons before they expire. Sometimes they're not items we use regularly, or they don't coincide with a good sale price... Or maybe we just didn't have time to get to the store that week. Oh well, that's life.

Since there were no coupons in this past weekend paper, I'm taking some time today to clear out my expired coupons to make room for this week's new ones.

Your expired coupons can still go to good use- military families stationed overseas can sometimes benefit from expired coupons. I believe they can use expired coupons for up to 6 months from the date of expiration. For more information about sending your expired coupons to military families check out Military Money Matters for tips on how to help. As a former Marine Corps wife, I wish I had known more about Couponing back then, it would have helped us tremendously with our ridiculously tight budget. Even so, I remember those years very fondly.

Becoming a COUPON DIVA!!

I am on my way to becoming the next COUPON THANG!! Lol! Well, I can say that I am definitely learning. I am not yet to the point of devoting 60 hour a week on couponing like some of the big extreme couponers I've seen on TLC, but I am becoming a coupon disciple!

At Kroger's this week, they are having a their Buy 5 Participating Items & Get $5.00 off instantly at checkout.

I just got a huge deal on Frosted Flakes cereal on sale for $1.99, I got a coupon from Kellogg's for buy 2 and get $1 off, and I got Huggies Diapers for $7.99-$3.50 (coupons) = $4.49 each!!

Since I had 2 x $3.50 in coupons I actually only paid 99 cents for 2 jumbo bags of diapers!!

Krogers has Huggies diapers on sale for $7.99- but you have to remember the catch is that you have to buy 5 total participating items to get that price. I had coupons from before that expired today, but in today's Smart Source in the Sunday paper there is a $2 off Huggies Little Movers coupon, and $1.50 off the Pull-Ups!

This was my biggest savings so far- I saved almost half off my total bill! Getting a little more coupon saavy!!
